I’ve often said how privileged we feel to document the most important day in people’s lives. This never wains. It’s an honour….. Always.
Usually, a wedding day involves the coming together of people who at worst see other occasionally, at weddings and Christmas maybe. Sometimes, rarely, we photograph weddings when families live on opposite sides of the world. Can you imagine seeing your sister or mother or father measured in years rather than weeks? That’s hard.
Jo and Alan live in South West Australia. They have an amazing life with their beautiful, beautiful boy Alfie. They knew that the only place they could marry was England, Sooo many friends and family they needed to see and be with. And so on a gorgeous warm, sunny day in May they sealed the knot, at the Maynard Arms in Derbyshire.
I can honestly say their wedding is one of the most beautiful, emotionally charged weddings I have ever photographed. I am always affected by speeches at weddings, they get to me. Alan’s speech killed me, couldn’t breathe, and couldn’t see. It is the most choked I have ever been at a wedding. Incredible emotion, which l will never forget it.
