I love each and every wedding we photograph. I really do. We absolutely believe that we are there to document the day and to give our clients photographs which capture them and who they are. Our style of shooting weddings means that we don’t take our couples away from their guests for endless posed shots. It’s a wedding day, very definitely not a photo shoot. So this inevitably means that we don’t get much chance to work in a stylised, editorial way.
However, we recently had the opportunity to just that for a Bridal Fashion Shoot at Whirlowbrook Hall …. AND I BLOOMIN LOVED IT!
The whole thing was beautifully styled by Julia Harrison at Go Glorious. She is a brilliant venue stylist with huge vision and an eye for style second to none. She is bursting with ideas and is just brilliant at seeing the big picture whilst at the same time bringing every tiny detail to life. Head over to Julia’s blog for the low down on all the detail. www.goglorious.co.uk
Julia brought together some serious talent to make it all happen………
Rachel Edwards is the best cake designer I have ever met, seriously, her passion for detail and commitment to perfection is awe inspiring, jaw dropping quite frankly. www.cakesbyracheledwards.com
The dresses, OMG the dresses, were provided by Emma at Freya Bridal. It’s simply my favorite gown shop. Emma’s knowledge about her trade is second to none, she knows what suits you before you’ve even picked a dress of a rail and boy does she know how to accessorize! www.freyabridal.co.uk
Catherine Greatorex at Petalis is one of the best florists around. Seriously brilliant at producing exactly the ideas you have in your head – how does she do that?!! www.petalis.co.uk
Julia Jeckell is an extremely experienced and talented make up artist specialising in both TV and wedding makeup. http://www.chicbrides.co.uk/
Hair was by the fab team at Jam on Oakbrook Road – really original work and they nailed the brief Julia gave them to cover different era’s in time. Jam Hairdressing – Contact then on 0114 2302894
Finally our four gorgeous models……Hannah, Lauren, Rose and Hannah. They tried to make me believe that none of them had ever been in front of a camera before. What a ridiculous suggestion. They absolutely ROCKED it, blew it out of the water, nailed it! ………… I am seriously impressed as it’s true none of them had!
Phew that was a bit wordy!
In three weeks time we will be exhibiting at this fantastic wedding event in Derby. As a rule we don’t really do wedding fayres but seeing as the fabulous Lydia and Abbi from Save The Date magazine are the creative genius’s behind this one we just couldn’t miss out – that’s them below!
It promises to be a wedding event crammed full of fabulous suppliers with great ideas and top tips for your wedding . There will be live demonstrations, competitions, an amazing catwalk show, a champagne bar (well it would be rude not to) plus you also get to rub shoulders with two of the coolest peeps in the industry Charlotte and Rebecca from our fave wedding blog Rock My Wedding . So wherever you are in the planning process be sure to pay a visit, you can never have too much information or too many ideas for your big day.
The Roundhouse is super easy to get to, just off the M1 or if you hop on a train it will quite literally drop you off at the door.
See full details here at the Save The Date website.
You know sometimes you just ‘get’ people don’t you? You just click and hit it off. This is how things were with Paul from the moment we met him when he worked (as a rather big cheese) at Chatsworth. He really is one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet, kind, funny, thoughtful and great company. He has since moved on to pastures new and another amazing venue, and we miss him, so it was lovely to be asked to photograph his wedding at Tissington Hall in December.
You can imagine I was looking forward to it a tiny bit… Winter Wedding (check) Fantastic Couple (check) Awesome Venue (check) Snow (check) …..But oh no no no things couldn’t be that good ….. The Dark Forces had other ideas, and a few days before the big day I had a major set back with my knee, tore a ligament and ended up back on crutches and stuck at home whilst Si went on his own. I WAS NOT BEST PLEASED. So I sat at home and cried and then cried all over again when I saw the images and what a beautiful day I had missed.
Huge congratulations to you both, we wish you many years of love and happiness. xxx
I love winter weddings, there is just something very special about the atmosphere, things are always cosy and there are roaring fires and twinkly lights. When there’s a dusting of snow they turn into something magical.
Helen and Mark were married in a beautiful church ceremony and held their reception at one of my favourite venues, Hassop Hall in Derbyshire. It really seems to come alive in winter.
The whole affair was a true classic from start to finish, Helen looked A.mazing with a drop dead gorgeous dress and the perfect classic chignon…. Simply beautiful.
